Admissions
Applications for a Reception place at Sun Hill Infant School are made through Hampshire County Council in accordance with its published admission arrangements and application deadlines. Applications for a school place during the academic year should be made through Hampshire’s in-year admissions process.
Applications for Sun Hill Preschool are made directly to the school. Please contact our school office for information about availability, sessions, funded hours and how to apply. Please note that attending Sun Hill Preschool does not guarantee a place in Reception, and parents and carers must make a separate application for an infant school place through Hampshire County Council.
We warmly welcome families who would like to visit Sun Hill before applying. Please contact the school office to arrange a tour or to ask any questions.

Concerns or Complaints
At Sun Hill Infant School and Preschool, we want every child and family to feel happy, supported and listened to. We value open and respectful communication and hope that most questions or concerns can be resolved quickly through an early conversation.
If you have a concern about your child’s experience at school or preschool, please speak to their class teacher or key person in the first instance. They will usually be the person best placed to listen, explain what has happened and help to find a solution.
If your concern cannot be resolved in this way, or you feel that it should be considered more formally, please contact the school office. Your concern will then be directed to the appropriate member of staff and handled in accordance with our Complaints Policy.

As part of the financial transparency regulations, the DfE have included two reporting requirements for maintained schools.
Individuals earning over £100,000
As a maintained school, we are required to publish financial information, in accordance with the latest Government guidance, on their websites the number of individuals (if any) earnings over £100,000 in £10k bandings

Benchmarking
Additionally, we are required to publish a link to the schools financial benchmarking website, where the Consistent Financial Reporting (CFR) statement of income, expenditure and balances is published.

Pupil Premium & Sports Premium
The pupil premium is a Government initiative that targets extra money at pupils from deprived backgrounds. Research shows that pupils from deprived backgrounds underachieve compared to their non-deprived peers.
The premium is provided to enable these pupils to be supported to reach their potential. The Government has used pupils entitled to free school meals (FSM) and looked after children as indicators of deprivation, and have provided a fixed amount of money for schools per pupil based on the number of pupils registered for FSM over a rolling six year period.
This fixed amount of money is expected to increase every year for the course of this current Parliament. At Sun Hill Infant School we will be using the indicator of those eligible for FSM, as well as identified vulnerable groups, as our target children to ‘close the gap’ regarding attainment.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
At Sun Hill Infant School and Preschool, we are committed to creating an inclusive, caring environment in which every child is supported to participate, learn and thrive.

The SENCO works closely with children, parents and carers, teachers, support staff and external professionals to co-ordinate support for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
If you have any concerns about your child’s learning, communication, development, physical needs, emotional wellbeing or progress, we encourage you to speak to your child’s class teacher or key person in the first instance. They will listen to your concerns and work with the SENCO to consider what support may be helpful.
Parents and carers are important partners in this process. We aim to identify needs early, plan appropriate support and regularly review the difference that support is making for each child.
