A warm welcome to Sun Hill

Our family atmosphere is special and, through genuine care and nurturing relationships, we have created a safe place for our children to feel loved, valued and supported. Every child is known as an individual, and our experienced team works hard to ensure that children feel secure, confident and excited to come to school each day.

We believe that childhood is incredibly precious, and we place great emphasis on allowing children to be children. Our days are filled with friendship, laughter, creativity, stories, songs, exploration and plenty of opportunities to learn through purposeful play and new experiences.

Happy memories stay with our pupils all the way through their education, and we are committed to helping everyone to progress, regardless of their starting point. We have high expectations for every child, while recognising that children develop in different ways and at different times. Our role is to encourage them, celebrate them and give them the confidence to discover just how much they can achieve.

Our school’s motto ‘Love to Learn’ permeates through every aspect of school life, both inside and outside the classroom.

Sun Hill is a place where children can flourish, families feel welcome and learning is approached with enthusiasm and joy. We are incredibly proud of our school and would be delighted to show you what makes it such a special place.

Sun Hill Infant School - A History

Sun Hill Infant School has been at the heart of Alresford since 1968, welcoming generations of children through its doors and giving them a happy, caring and confident start to their education.

For more than half a century, the school has been an important part of the local community. Teaching methods, classrooms and resources have naturally changed over the years, but the values at the heart of Sun Hill have remained reassuringly familiar: kindness, friendship, curiosity and a genuine love of learning.

In 2018, Sun Hill celebrated its 50th birthday with pupils, staff, families and members of the wider community. The anniversary was a wonderful opportunity to look back at the friendships, achievements and happy memories created at the school, while celebrating everything Sun Hill continues to offer children today.

The introduction of Sun Hill Preschool marked another important chapter in the school’s history, allowing children to become part of the Sun Hill family from the age of three. Preschool children enjoy their own nurturing environment while also benefiting from being part of the wider life of the infant school.

In 2026, we are proud to celebrate 58 years of Sun Hill. We look back with enormous affection at the generations of children, families and staff who have shaped our school, while looking forward with confidence and excitement to the years ahead.

The school may continue to grow and evolve, but the heart of Sun Hill remains unchanged: a happy and caring place where childhood is treasured, memories are made and children develop a lifelong love of learning.
